Katie Blake, Ph.D., R-HYI
Katie has been teaching yoga since January 2016 after receiving her R-HYI certification from Holy Yoga, Inc., in November of 2015. With over 280 hours of yoga training, she is certified by Holy Yoga in pre/postnatal yoga & therapeutic yoga touch and is currently completing her requirements for certification in baby/toddler yoga. Katie has a Ph.D. in Social Psychology, giving her the background to fully appreciate the mind/body connection and the benefits of the yoga practice. She has been a yoga practitioner and student for over 15 years. After a season as an endurance athlete, training for marathons and half marathons, she fell deeper into her yoga practice. She was ready to put the endurance training on the shelf and was looking for a different way to stay physically active and healthy. It was then, during a season of Bikram yoga, that she truly fell in love with the yoga practice.

“You are stronger than you think you are.” This is one thing I say to myself and to classes as I teach. We are stronger physically and mentally than we give ourselves credit for and the opportunity to engage in activity together increases our social health as well. I have been teaching various formats of group exercise for many years and have found the impressive energy that is created and the bond that is formed when groups of people trust each other enough to let go of any reservations in fitness class. This fostering of relationships is one of the many reasons I feel honored to lead these classes.

My love of yoga began when I read "Yoga for Americans" by Indra Devi. This was followed by marriage, teaching 4th grade, raising a family, graduate study, teaching 6th grade language arts, and sometimes practicing yoga.
After retirement in 2000, I decided to become serious about studying the practice of yoga. Nancy Magaret, my mentor and friend, encouraged me to follow my heart. From 2006 to 2013, while teaching at YOGA NOW, a small studio in Canyon, I studied with Tias and Surya Little (Prajna Yoga, Santa Fe, NM) and Gary Kraftsow (Viniyoga founder). My large collection of books about teaching yoga help me continue to study, and my certified yoga hours equal 285. I am thankful for the opportunity to be included on the teaching staff at CrossTies Yoga, and plan to practice yoga the rest of my life!

After practicing yoga for more than 3 years (at Yoga Now), Danna enrolled in Yahweh Yoga’s teacher training and received her certification in November,2010. She is proud to bring Yahweh Christian Yoga to the Texas Panhandle and welcomes all to her classes.
In February, 2015 Danna completed and received certification in Judith Hanson Lasater’s Relax and Renew® training.
Danna is also available for private instruction, one day clinics or as an addition to any Christian Retreat.

After trying the regular workout regimen with running, sit-ups and lots of circuits, I found out there's a better way to get fit that's a lot more FUN! That's when I found Zumba about three years ago. I recently got my certification to teach Zumba this past March, and already am so passionate about helping people get healthy and stay there! Zumba is a high energy, party like atmosphere where burning calories is as easy as shaking it to some of your favorite tunes! All levels welcome. Bring water, a towel, and a great attitude. Can't wait to Zumba with YOU!
